Where courage
fuels discovery

AMC Innovative Health Foundation supports courageous, patient-centered clinical care and research approaches that will pioneer the future of medicine and change the world around us.

Through inspiration, innovation & purpose

AMC Innovative Health Foundation (AMC IHF) was established by Alex Cohen to address critical gaps she recognized in research, education, and resources for complex, stigmatized, and historically underserved areas of health.

AMC IHF accelerates innovative research and expands public awareness to ensure scientific progress translates into real-world improvements in care and support for patients and their families.

Where We Focus

Women's Health

Innovative, evidence-based, and patient-centered clinical care for women’s health has been underfunded and overlooked for decades. AMC IHF supports projects that address the full spectrum of a woman’s health needs across her lifespan, with a special focus on menopause and midlife, and raises awareness of the lived experiences of women everywhere.

Brain Health

Brain health is foundational to overall well-being at every stage of life, from adolescence through older adulthood. AMC IHF propels the research that deepens our understanding of the brain, promotes early detection and intervention, and develops evidence-based treatments for mental health, neuroinflammatory, and neurodegenerative conditions. As neurological and mental health challenges increasingly affect individuals and families, AMC IHF works to improve cognitive health, resilience, and quality of life through all stages of development and aging.

Psychedelic Research

Psychedelic compounds have long been stigmatized, but research indicates their potential to help many conditions where healing is illusive, such as depression, anxiety, addiction, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and pain conditions. AMC IHF supports select research initiatives that explore how psychedelic-assisted therapies can advance safe, evidence-based treatments to improve patient outcomes and quality of life for individuals and their families.

Lyme & Tickborne Disease

Lyme and tickborne diseases are among the fastest-growing vector-borne illnesses in the U.S. AMC IHF builds on Alex’s longstanding commitment, as a sufferer herself and the largest private funder of Lyme and tickborne disease research in the U.S., to empower patients, advance scientific understanding, and move the field closer to improved diagnostics and treatment.
